Actor-politician Vijay is poised to become the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has successfully secured the necessary majority of 118 seats. This breakthrough comes after the CPI officially announced unconditional support for a stable secular democratic government, with the CPM and VCK expected to follow suit. While these parties were traditionally allied with the DMK, their shift to support Vijay is seen as a strategic move to prevent political instability and a potential President’s rule, a direction reportedly sanctioned by M.K. Stalin to allow the new leadership a chance to govern. Although Vijay is scheduled to meet the Governor to formalize the government formation, the specific demands of these allied parties—such as cabinet positions or the Deputy CM post—remain under discussion, with an official swearing-in ceremony likely to take place this coming Sunday.
